BIOGRAPHY

I make sculpture.

At my father's scrap business I hung around rusted cars, hungry shredding machines, and monster crushers and balers.

Graduated from the  Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Founded the influential underground publisher Hovey Street Press. Worked four years as the assistant to poet Denise Levertov, my Teacher.

My itinerary as a steel, scrap, and pig iron trader for three decades took me to mills, rail yards and ports in Liverpool, Calcutta, Bilbao, and Cartagena.

Metal is my medium. I want to bend it to my will, but it always wins.
